ROSEMARY

Rosemary is a widely used and highly treasured herb originating from the Mediterranean and now cultivated throughout the world. It has been used for centuries as a food flavoring, as a medicine and also as a disinfectant and purifier. Rosemary essential oil is loaded with antioxidants, is antibacterial and antifungal, and carries the delightful signature “Rosemary” fragrance that is deep, herbaceous, earthy, refreshing and deodorizing.

Rosemary essential oil is helpful for reducing inflammation in the body, and also helps to increase circulation and blood flow, making it useful in the treatment of high blood pressure.

Rosemary essential oil is often added to hair products because it has been shown to stimulate the growth of hair follicles and also helps to keep dandruff in check. It can be added to shampoo, conditioner or hair oil.

For the skin, Rosemary essential oil acts as a natural astringent and helps to tighten pores and brighten skin tone. This is due to the high level of tannins in the oil. It also helps to protect the skin against the harmful effects of ultraviolet light. Rosemary oil has been shown to help heal wounds faster, and is beneficial to skin ailments like acne and eczema. Rosemary essential oil is also added to formulas that help with muscle soreness, bruising and cramps.

For the mind and mood, Rosemary essential oil is effective at stimulating mental energy, mental sharpness, memory and focus. It is a mood lifter, and also works wonders on headaches. A few drops in the diffuser can also deodorize the entire room. Rosemary essential oil is also an effective ingredient in natural insect repellents, especially when blended with Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Citrus oils.

USES

Caution: do not put Rosemary essential oil directly on your skin full-strength. It must be diluted in a carrier (either oil or soap) first. Carrier Oil Suggestions: Almond, Hemp, MCT, Jojoba, Apricot, Sunflower and Olive Oils all work well with Peppermint Essential Oil.

Mood Boosting and Mental Focus

In a diffuser: Add 3-5 drops of Rosemary essential oil for every 100 ml of water.

In a roller bottle: Add 1-3% (5 - 15 drops) of Rosemary essential oil to your favorite carrier oil in a 10 ml roller bottle. Use as needed to boost your mood throughout the day.

Pain Relief

Using your favorite carrier oil, blend 10% Rosemary essential oil with 90% carrier oil. If you like, you can increase the amount of Rosemary up to 50% of the formula. Use in a roll-on bottle to roll directly on the area, or it can also be dabbed on with your fingers. For headaches, rub a few drops of the blend into your temples and forehead. It can also be dabbed under the nose and inhaled gently for relief of sinus pressure.

For Skin and Hair Oil

Dilute 1% (5-6 drops) of essential oil per ounce of your favorite carrier oil.

In your Favorite Shampoo

Dilute 1 - 3% (5 - 10 drops) per ounce of shampoo. Lather and rinse as usual.

For Home and Cleaning Use

Cleaning and Deodorizing Spray: Add 1 teaspoon of Rosemary essential oil to 1 cup of water and ½ cup of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the surface, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe. Shake bottle well before each use.

Insect Repellent: Add 10 drops of Rosemary essential oil to 2 cups of water and place in a spray bottle. Shake well and spray as needed to ward off ants, mosquitoes and other insects. Rosemary essential oil is even more effective as an insect spray when combined with Citronella, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lemongrass and Cedarwood.
